Otto stepped into the bakery/cafe with a blank expression. She and her mom had gotten into an arguement earlier, and she hadn't any friends to turn to. Her only choice was to wander around until she felt the tension may be down.

If it weren't for all this business about Kira, things would still be good. Otto tried to ignore all that had to do with the murderer, whereas her mom was on an investigating team with L to try and crack this case. Her mother was angry with her, because she refused to join the team. Otto wasn't always one to avoid things, but so long as it had nothing to do with her, why should she bother? Sitting down, she stared out the window, wishing as always she had someone to talk to. Ever since her old friend lost touch because of major family issues, things had been lonely. It just began to pour down rain as the cashier asked, "Would you like to order anything, miss?"
"A hot mocha, thank you," she replied flatly, her eyes still glued to the world outside.

Frustrated, L left the meeting and went outside, and decided to go to the cafe nearby.
Walking in, he looked around to find an empty seat, but the place was packed with people who wanted to get out of the pouring rain. WAlking toward the back, he found a seat by some girl with white hair. Sluggishly walked over to the seat, and sat down in his way. "What would you like sir?" the cafe man asked him, "I'd like that cake over there with the sweet candies."
The man nodded and handed it to him than went to do his other customers. Looking over, he saw the white haired girl looking out the window. He poked her, not replying... she seems very concentrated on the window... Taking a bite of the cake, he kept poking her, which still wasn't working but he wanted the sour mints that was next to her...that he could not reach, and didn't feel like getting himself.

Otto woke from her trance, noticing that someone was continuously poking her arm. Must be some kid... Turning around, her eyes now lay on a rather odd looking man. He sat oddly, as well.. With his legs tucked to his chest. His eyes were large, his hairs was sticking up and it looked as though he hadn't slept in months. Who is this guy...?

"Uhm," she remarked, "what is it?" She couldn't help but be extremely confused.

He stopped once she finally replied, than her point to the mints, while looking at her "Could you pass me those mints..?" He held his hand out, waiting for the sweet.. delicious mints to be set into his hand, so he may consume them later. "If you don't mind me starting conversation...but what's so interesting about that window..?"
pointing toward the window, and than held his hand out again.

Otto wasn't sure of what to make of him still. She debated on whether to tell him or not. After all, it's been a while since I've really been friends with anyone.
"Oh.. Just thinking. It's a bit personal, so no details. Sorry." A small smile came onto her face but was quickly gone. She quickly changed the subject by asking, "I don't mean to offend you, but.. why is it that you sit in that fashion?" Otto had many other questions she'd like to ask about this peculiar being.

The young black hair boy slowly bobbed his head to one side. He watched the lips of the girl as she slowly started to ask her question and actually before she could even finish it he put his finger in front of her lips, his eyes quickly narrowing and looking to her own. His alternate hand (the left in this case) slowly lifted up and pointed obviously towards the mint. He was silent and his face seemed to speak most of his thoughts. He wanted the mint still, he couldn't take his mind off of the delicious looking candy, and he knew already that his cake would not take half as good if it were missing.

In the sport of wanting to make sure that his cake was as delicious as it possibly could be, the male stared still at the girl. He had assumed that anybody would understand what he was doing and of course this was the obvious way to deal if someone had not done you a favor just yet that you wished that they would do. His eyes slowly glanced back over to the candies as he slowly turned in his chair, moving both his hands aside, lowering his gestures that he had given her. He slowly sniffed his cake, muttering quietly as his eyes darted towards her. "I'd expect if you'd want me to reply to such a question you'd at least give me what I asked for..." The boys eyes slowly looked away, soon staring blankly at the cake as he used his fork, starting to move the other candies in a small orderly fashion.

Otto gazed at him with an odd expression whilst his finger slowly pressed her lips. Every last move he made was both strange and intriguing. The way his buggy eyes darted about, fixated on the small mints beside her, his gestures and facial expressions.. Otto never could have imagined meeting someone quite like him, ever.

Her mocha was brought to her and after thanking the waiter she took one sip, reaching over and then placing the mint next to his peice of cake. "I don't see how it'd be a problem." She smiled a little, and was surprised at that. At first glance she thought he may be nuisance, but he was anything but. Still, many quesions buzzed her mind about him. Such as, does he ever sleep? Or, why on earth isn't he wearing shoes...? Otto gazed back out at the now calmer rain, sipping her mocha.

The kingdom was now fully made! The dark haired boy quickly raised his hands as if he was expanding the horizons of some sort of invisible boundaries. He slowly brought them back as the candies on his cake could be seen as looking quite like a candy castle. As she handed him the mint, he quickly took it, not bothering to look at the girl and quickly placed it at what looked like the "top" of his castle. Upon that he slowly pulled his hands back, looking over what he made and then reaching down and picking up his spoon, taking a small chunk of the cake and pushing it into his mouth. He ate it happily, his face showed no more sign of being pleased than any other symbol of how he felt throughout that evening. He seemed uncaring.

The boy slowly turned around as he noticed her seemingly now drinking her drink and now watching the rain outside. He took a few more bites of his cake before he slowly pulled a piece of it on his spoon away with him as he turned. He pushed the spoon up to the girls mouth, obviously not really caring about her thoughts or feelings about what he was doing. He then without any more notice pushed it between her lips and forced the spoon into her mouth.

"People seem happier when they eat sweet things". The boy turned in his chair, facing his cake once more as he picked up his fork once again, using that to eat it this time. His hair completely covered any bit of his eyes or face that she could really discern his expression from. He continued to eat quietly at that point, unaware or caring of how she felt about tasting his cake.

Otto couldn't exactly do anything as he shovled cake into her mouth. As confused as she was, she chewed it slowly and swallowed. Mm.. not bad She was about to turn back toward the window though stopped herself. She began to wonder if she should continue to talk with him. Talking with this fellow did actually seem more fun than having to go back home to a grouchy mother.

With a sly look in her eye, Otto reached over, her index finger extended as she pushed it into his candy castle of wonder. "It was a lovely castle, though disasters are bound to happen," she stated jokingly. It felt like an eternity since she was able to joke around. It made her actually feel like herself. Hopefully he won't take it personally... hahah.

It wasn't long before he had eaten more of his cake that the finger of the girl next to him soon came and destroyed his little cake tower. He slowly looked at it and traced it back to her, his "bug-like" gaze peered at her as he was silently watching. He then soon looked back down her wrist and to her finger as he nodded slowly at her comment.

"Like the disaster of one man taking it upon himself to right all the wrongs of other people..." He was quiet after saying this, his gaze staying at the castle as he then pushed the plate away from him. He quickly got up from his chair and began to walk away from her. He head towards the door, opening it up and stepping out, he made a gesture to the tender of the shop letting him know he'd make it back later to pay for the food. He then looked back at the girl who had been sitting next to him. "I'm L. The pleasure was mine." He said this briefly as he stepped out into the rain once more. He grunted somewhat, but didn't walk anywhere, he walked to the curb, dropping himself down to the same posture as when he was sitting inside that shop.

Just the sound of the rain was audible now. He thought silently out there, listening to it as he pondered.

Otto blinked at his statement. It seemed there was so much more to it. Simply in the way he said it, but she just couldn't put her finger on it...
Until he uttered his name. Otto did not respond at first, just was in awe. So, this is him... She watched him as he walked outside, wondering why he decided to tell her who he was, then noticing he didn't quite go anywhere. Leaving to go back home didn't seem too wise a decision as of now. She'd decided to stay away only a while longer, and all she could consider doing was speaking with L. Tapping her fingers on the table a moment, she at last got up, figuring she'd at least have to leave the cafe by now.

Heading outside, the drizzle was far fainter, nearly coming to a stop. The rode glistened brilliantly and Otto took a seat beside him. "I'm Otto. My mother is an agent working with you." Despite her carelessness about the Kira case, she couldn't help but find him interesting, and in a weird sense, nearly appealing to her.

The soft tapping of the rain was fainter than before. And though there was no sound at all, L had sat there for some bit of tim with his hands over his ears as he was looking around. It wasn't long before he had lowered his hands that he had noticed the girl from the cafe follow him outside and soon join him at the curb. He slowly turned his head towards her, watching her as she sat and then glanced back towards the beauty of the glistening area around them. He looked about it, as if his eyes were merely reading into everything around him and he soaked it all in. Along with soaking in his surroundings, he had been out there long enough so that his hair was even more out of place, but covered his facial features to a further extent than ever before.

"I'm Otto. My mother is an agent working with you."

"Yes. Mrs. Erizawa. I was already quite aware of your relationship and your identity from the moment that I had entered into the shop."

Silence once again fell over him as he slowly stood up, stretching some as he let his bare feet bathe softly in the wet surface below him. His eyes slowly traveled back to her as his face remained calm and as usual, bored. He then took a step into the road in front of them, merely standing there as every now and then cars would drive by, quite close to actually hitting him. Regardless of the nearness of death, he seemed just as bored as before, his clothes and hair would lightly ruffle due to the speed of the passing vehicles and it was at that point that he then turned around, moving closer to the girl, and soon crouching down so his face was not far from hers as he looked her in the eyes.

"You don't share your mom's passions of justice. Not to imply you don't like justice, you just don't see the need to be an activist in enforcing it. Also, you've been playing the bass for nearly over 10 years now? Your hands look quite used to the strings and your calluses look quite permanent. And your eyes..." He slowly looked deeper into her eyes, not really showing any sign of himself as he did but almost as if he was trying to get something deep that she had hidden inside them.

"You're lacking something..."

(firstly i'm going to explain the storyline my friend and i came up with. her character, kairuko, will soon become friends with otto. they were childhood friends and lost touch when kairuko's family passed. probably before that though, otto will be gaining more interest on the kira case once another old friend of hers is killed after prehaps robbing a bank or maybe something more extreme. so eventually otto will work with L. kairuko will soon build a relationship with light, it being a deadly one since they are both wielders of death note. so that will cause some drama... if you have any ideas for stories or have questions, PM/IM me.)
Otto looked a bit surprised at all the information he was aware of. It seemed as though her mothers saying, "L knows all" was definately true. He was intelligent, and she respected that. During her admiration, L started to the street. Otto extended her arm slightly in a lame attempt to grab onto his shirt, sputtered though stopped and watched, hoping he wasn't trying to commit suicide. Is talking to me really that bad...? She thought but in that instant, he was walking slowly back toward her.

His large, pitch dark eyes met her own, his face only centimeters from hers. She could feel that her heart was now skipping beats, banging against her chest. She could not tell whether she were intimidated or nervous. Or perhaps even both. She nodded slowly at every detail he remarked of her, stopping and staring at him after those last words crossed his pale lips. Otto was well aware of her loss, but it didn't strike her too much. She lost her father when she was far too young to remember any details. The sight of seeing small girls, hand cupped to their dad's with smiles on both faces made her not upset, but only wonder what it may be like to have that in her life. She and her mother spoke of it on rare occasions, but only her mother was upset about it. Mrs. Erizawa hadn't even considered being with anyone else since then. Searching for someone new was out of the question. Somehow, Otto never minded it. She was not the type to push her mother into things like that.

Being in love was something she did not understand one bit, but she understood her mother's refusal. Otto always felt that her mother was enough, having been the best mother she could ask for. "Yes..." Otto said slowly. "There is quite a bit I'm lacking in, actually..." Her eyes drifted slowly to his bare feet for a moment then back at him. I'm sure that there is hardly anyone I've told this to... but somehow, it's nice that someone will at least listen. Otto was the type of person who avoided having certain feelings. She put it all into her music. She grinned slightly, gazing at the cars whizzing past, hoping that spending this time with him would last longer. If it didn't though, she'd understand. Otto was aware of L's duty.

"Yes..." "There is quite a bit I'm lacking in, actually..."

The young male turned his gaze back to the girl as he blinked once or twice. It was not in his nature to hit a woman, nor did he intend to actually touch Otto at any point, whether or not she were attractive or anything, he was just... not like that. He reached his hand forward, as if he were going to flick her head and stopped his finger nearly centimeters away.

"I am under the impression that you misunderstood my words. I never meant that you were lacking in character, nor in personality. If you are, I doubt that it's really lacking, more just silent." He then turned away from her again, this time slinking down to the ground and placing his back against the lightpole at the edge of the curb. His eyes stared up at the sky above them as he just blankly stared at it, silence filling the air for a few moments.

"I meant, you're missing something. Or something you once had is now gone. That means, you're lacking... A father, isn't it? And not only a father, but a deep connection to the closest person to him. You love your mother, but you don't share her same drive, nor do you intend to... In fact, you want to be more like him. Even though, you didn't know him."

L finally shut his eyes, his mouth slowly closing as he was once more silent. His gaze no longer darting about anywhere, but now he simply just sat there, and shortly after doing so, a soft sound of breathing could be heard, as if he had dozed off right there on the corner, in fact, he had been quite tired from working, and that sugar rush was now coming to an end from the desert that he had just indulged in. He slept near silently, not a deep sleep, but just a soft little doze.

Otto's eyes followed his hand, her gaze drifting to the ground as it went away from her. I meant lacking in life? Maybe I should have reworded that. She listened to him as he spoke, again wondering why all these people had to drift away from her in the past.

"I believe the connection between me and my mother is good... Except that one difference about her passion. I figured if it did not involve anyone I'm close to, or have been close to.. Than why care? Maybe I am being too stubborn..." Her voice lowered and while she was rambling she trailed off, noticing L asleep.

She studied him a moment, then sighed a bit and gazed a head at the cars zooming past. Everything around them looked suddenly slowed-down and gloomy. She almost wanted to go on and go home, but decided to let L be the first to say goodbye. Somehow, she wanted to gain more interest in the Kira case.. but, a push was probably necessary. Her eyes were now fixated on a leaf gently floating in a small puddle that had formed near her foot. It's brilliant green shade seemed to be the only color around them.
